OFFSHORE CANADIAN HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

Our schools offer a full 80-credit BC high school program taught in English by certified BC teachers. Our students write the same BC provincial exams in Grade 10, 11, and 12 as students in Canada .

GCA's goals are to help students:

  • Develop academic skills for further study in foreign universities;
  • Acquire academic English proficiency for university education;
  • Become familiar with western academic culture and practice; and
  • Enter Canadian and other foreign universities
  • Apply for Student Visas and Study Permits

Features of GCA's Canadian high school programs include:

  • Full Canadian high school curriculum and Canadian textbooks;
  • All instructors are certified by the relevant Provincial Ministry/Department of Education, Canada ;
  • Delivered in partnership with a local institution for program delivery;
  • Graduates receive high school diploma from the provincial government of Canada ; and
  • Counseling for Canadian university application and Study Permit application.
  • Graduates are qualified to apply for postsecondary programs at all universities and colleges in Canada , US and Commonwealth countries.

    1.  Students will be able to experience and undertake Canadian education system in the comfort of their home country;

    2.  Students will gain in-depth knowledge and exposure from the experiences brought to them by the Canadian high school instructors;

    3.  Students will obtain the Canadian high school diploma conferred by the provincial government with competitive tuition fee;

    4.  B.C. Dogwood High School Diploma is recognized worldwide;

    5.  Assistance will be provided to students for admission into Canadian or American universities upon graduation;

    6.  Assistance from the Canadian provincial government will be provided to facilitate student's application for the Study Permit;

    7.  Offshore students will be much better prepared mentally and academically to face the challenge of the academic studies when entering North American universities;

    8.  During the offshore Canadian high school studies, assistance will be provided to facilitate visitor's visas should students be interested in summer camp programs in Canada .

PROVINCE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 80 credits over the three-year Graduation Program as follows:

48 required-course credits

28 or more elective credits, and

4 credits from Graduation Portfolio Assessment.

Elective Courses

Consistent with the principle of giving students choices, Elective Studies provide opportunities for students to tailor their learning within the broader Graduation Program. They may earn elective credits towards graduation by completing ministry-authorized courses, board/authority authorized course.

Students may also earn elective credits by completing Required Courses, over and above those needed for graduation. For example, a student could meet the science requirement for graduation by completing Science 10 and earning 4 credits in Biology 11. The student could then go on to earn 4 elective credits by completing Biology 12.

Provincial Examinations

All students are required to write a minimum of five Provincial Examinations (also known as "Graduation Program Examinations"):

Grade 10 English, Math, Science

Grade 11 Social Studies

Grade 12 – At least 5 courses

Students may choose to take the Provincial Examinations on other Focus Areas (such as Physics 12 and History 12) in order to meet the entrance requirements of the universities that they plan to apply to.

Students who successfully complete a senior high-school program in accordance with the prescribed requirements will be awarded a High-School Graduation Certificate from the British Columbia Ministry of Education.
