GCA Overview
The Grand Canadian Academy (Asia) Limited operates 2 BC offshore schools in China ¨C one located on the campus of the Nanjing Foreign Language School in Nanjing, China; the other on the campus of the Mao Dun High School in Jiaxing, China.
Nanjing GCA began operations in 2002 with 26 students and has since grown to over 375 students in 2007. Nanjing GCA received certification by the BC Ministry of Education in 2003 and has been inspected and recertified every year by Ministry representatives. Jiaxing GCA currently has 50 students and is located about 1 hour from both Shanghai and Hangzhou . Jiaxing GCA received BC Ministry certification in 2005 has been recertified in 2006 and 2007.
Our schools offer a full 80-credit BC high school program taught in English by teachers certified by BC Ministry of Education. Our courses include all Humanities, Mathematics, Sciences as well as a BC physical education and art program. Our students write the same BC provincial exams in Grade 10, 11, and 12 as students in Canada , and our students complete their Graduation Transitions projects in Grade 11 and 12. In addition to the full BC course load. Many of our students also pursue their Chinese high school diploma through our partner schools taking subjects including Mandarin, Physical and Life Sciences, History, Geography, and Politics.
The GCA high schools in Nanjing and Jiaxing have a dedicated and professional group of Chinese and Western faculty that are committed to the success of our programs. We have a wonderful group of young and talented students who are opening their minds to the global world, and we are growing every year. All of the teachers and administrators of GCA are doing our best to prepare the students to be successful in whatever future path they choose to pursue.
