SCHOOL PROFILE

Grand Canadian Academy (Jiaxing) BC High School is certified by the B.C. Ministry of Education in Canada, and is registered at the Education Bureau of Jiaxing Municipality with the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province, and the Ministry of Education of PRC.

  • GCA (Jiaxing) began operations in 2005 and now has 123 students in 2014-2015.
  • GCA (Jiaxing) received certification by the B.C. Ministry of Education in 2005 and has been inspected and recertified every year by Ministry representatives.
  • Qualified GCA graduates are authorized to receive the official B.C.Dogwood high school diploma.
  • GCA (Jiaxing) students may also receive dual-diploma at Maodun High School by completing their Chinese high school courses delivered by Maodun High School teachers in addition to the BC Curriculum.
  • The dual-diploma allows students who want to challenge themselves to be eligible to taking the Chinese University Entrance Examinations.

Features of GCA Canadian High School:

  • Certified by the Ministry of Education, Province of British Columbia (B.C.), Canada
  • Graduates are to be awarded BC High School Diploma (Dogwood Diploma)
  • All B.C. Curriculum taught by Certified B.C. high school instructors
  • Grade 10, 11 and 12: B.C. Government Provincial Exams written at Maodun High School
  • Graduates can apply to all universities and colleges in North America and the Commonwealth
  • Graduates have been receiving scholarships from many outstanding Universities in North America

Responsibilities of British Columbia Ministry of Education (BC MOE) in the Program

1.
operates under the International Education Portfolio and provides experienced BC Educators to oversee the Offshore Program.
2.
reviews every application to operate an Offshore Program
3.
conducts on-site inspections and assesses the availability of the applying program to successfully operate an Offshore Program
4.
after a on-site inspection by trained BC Educators the Office of the Director of International Educator may approve the application
5.
may issue Program Certification after the BC Offshore Program has addressed any outstanding issues from the Candidacy Inspection and after another on-sight inspection has taken place and has been passed
6.
conducts follow-up inspections annually.
7.
stipulates that every BC offshore high school must appoint a trained and experienced BC Educator as an Offshore Program Consultant who supervises teachers, curriculum, and teaching quality.
8.
maintains and provides for the distribution of academic performance of students
9.
makes all examinations available to the authority and is responsible for the grading of all provincial examinations upon their return.
10.
Issues the BC "Dogwood" Graduation Certificate
